Overview

“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

— George Bernard

Have you ever thought of what you believe about yourself influence your success or failure? According to Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck, your beliefs play an essential role in what you actually want and whether you achieve it or not. Dweck has found out that mind set is the only thing that plays a substantial role in defining an achievement and success. So, what are the different forms of a mindset any individual can have?

There are two forms of mindsets, growth and fixed. Growth mindset is based on the belief that the primary traits of an individual may be built via commitment and hard work while on the other hand, a fixed-minded person sees his or her intelligence as an inert, intrinsic quality that cannot be changed.

Incremental Theory of Intelligence

This theory was presented by Dweck & Wan in 1999 which states that it is the system of beliefs that intelligence, locus of control and abilities are malleable and can improve or grow with effort, this is the exact same theory now known as the definition of Growth Mindset. A person with a growth mindset learns from their failures, accept challenges, and persist in times of setbacks. They usually take it as an opportunity to learn and improve rather than a putting a blame on their abilities.

There are plenty of methods or strategies out there but let’s put them aside and take a dive into Amal Totkay; a concept for the development of the growth mindset. They have mentioned several steps that are necessary for it

Self-talk

I totally agree with a concept of self-talking b/c that is how you tells your mind that you can do it when finding any difficulties or hesitation in any task. It helps you to take down your fears and increases the confidence on yourself.

Get out of your Comfort Zones

First of all, you have to analyze your comfort zone and once you done with it then you have to work on how to get yourself out from it to push your limits because that is how you will be able to achieve what you dreamed of but still, it is quite hard to shake yourself out of a comfort zone. In other word it’s a kind of give & take thing, you give some and you get some instead.

Create New Habits

Yes, it is also quite helpful in developing growth mindset because if you’re keen for change then you have to adopt new skills & new habits. Once you’re committed to them and starts expecting more from yourself, you see a big shift in your attitudes and that makes you to achieve more 7 more in life.

Ask People for Help

I think, it is the most important among all. It makes you to chase the individual who you think is perfect for you to be a mentor. There are many other ways but what I mentioned is the most important one because it creates an acceptance which leads you to growth mindset.

Fake It till You Make It

I haven’t done this before but it seems like it helps you to fight against your fear and build your confidence more. It think it has a same concept as we have got in self-talking totka.

Conclusion

I have already adopted some Totkays back when I was told from my seniors about how to build a confidence against public while speaking or giving presentation. I can say that I have the growth mindset but from now I’ll start strictly monitoring myself about these Totkays to find out the most better version of myself.
